In general, kids and teens should tone their muscles using a low amount of weight and a high number of repetitions, instead of trying to lift a heavy load one or two times.

Middle Schoolers and pre-teens can benefit from strength training in a variety of ways. It not only helps instill a healthy lifestyle but can help build healthy muscles, joints and bones. HappyLee Fitness pays careful attention when introducing strength training to Middle Schoolers. At this age, many kids lack stability within their bones and joints. Our team takes the time to properly design fitness programs that are adapted to your child. We infuse variation, frequency and intensity.

Strength training for children is different for each child. This could mean opting to do bands, push-ups, jump rope and other callisthenics in replacement of weight training. We work with kids as young as 6th grade to help build their strength, live a healthier lifestyle and/or loose weight.

Benefits of Strength Training

One of the benefits of instructed child strength training is that it helps kids to build a sense of balance and body awareness. It is best to keep the exercises simple and fun, and once they learn proper technique, light resistance can be added. A knowledgeable trainer or instructor will know when to add or change resistance.
